Half Doors

Recommended Posts

Can someone post a link or a picture of 'Half Doors' fitted to a 7?

Also how much less weather protection do they offer against full doors? (Please dont answer half or 50% *wink* )

Which is best for racing? In regards to a compromise between possible weather protection (wet races) and general visability?

Edited to correct Monday morning spelling 😬

No one else has replied, so there is a pic of my homemade ones under my sig and then upgrades.

I'm running brooklands with mine, but I really don't notice any more buffeting compare to the full doors. Most of the wind goes over the top. The main advantage though is that in place of no-doors you are a lot warmer aroudn the side of your back/kidneys, just makes it a nice cosy place to be *smile*

Steve F used his homemade ones when he was racing - no problems at all, with JPE screen.

I did a Seloc track day in December (very wet) and tried the full and half doors. The half doors were a bit colder but kept amazingly dry with both although the full doors were a little bit better. There is no comparison visibility wise.

You will need to sort out mirrors though. I have mounted the Spa mirrors that came with the aeroscreen directly to the windscreen stantion (sic) on the full screen for winter which works very well.

There are two sorts. The ones that Caterham sell as stand alone items have the bulbous bit at the bottom the same as the bottom half of the normal doors. These are significant cost.

There are also half doors which come with the race tonneaus, these are just shaped bits of plain vinyl that fill the bottom half of the door. No bulbous bit, no interior strengthening, just a plain sheet of vinyl with folded and sewn edges. I would think these are loads cheaper. Might be an accpetable and cheaper alternative.
