anon7
My nice shiny 1.8 supersport has a shift light fitted in the middle between the tacho and the speedo. I like the idea of the shift light but the power appears to be dropping off by the time it comes on, and there seems little point going that high (rev wise). Is there a relatively easy way to adjust the point at which this light comes on? Or is it pre set and non adjustable? Thanks
Pelico
Preset in the ECU I believe. Being a big kid and liking seeing the light come one, I swopped mine for an OMEX one that fits in the same hole so I could adjust it to get a gearchange signal at more modest revs. My new Caterham owner's site
Myles
Erm, I dunno - but isn't the limit set so that you get dropped (approximately) onto peak torque (or steepest part of torque curve) for the next gear??? Anyway - what you *really* want is a Sureshift 2 sequential system...here Keep BC free and open for ALL. david nelson
shift light should come on at 7400rpm (it in the owners handbook)this is a total waste of time. 1.8 ss max power 6800rpm and max torque 5250rpm you have 2 options fit a shift light Sureshift 2 from ACE or get Stack st500 taco with shift light, speed, ect. hope this help David
stevefoster
Can you see it well enough there. I had to mount mine more in line of sight on the near the top edge of the JPE screen to get a better sight of it. I didn't want to be dropping your eyes to speedo area to view it when using all these revs in anger. Esp true when in bright sunlight. Not much of that around in Jan, but it was sunny a bit today Hants (North) and Berkshire Area club site here My racing info site here
anon7
Thanks David I quite agree that it appears to be rather insignificant, trouble is being a tight Northern b*&%£$$ I haven`t got a lot of money to spend. Sureshift looks really nice but looks like it will cost a small fortune. What about this Omex jobbie? Is it easy to fit and what sort of money are we talking? I`m new to K series ownership and had many happy hours tinkering with my old crossflow (pull the head off in 3/4 hour sort of thing) Just don`t know what to play with on this one ❗ ❗ 🤔

Strangely
Regarding that Datatool light - the manual implies that the shift point can only be set in multiples of 500 rpm. Is that true?

anon7
If it`s in multiples of 500, surely if you set it at 6500 (for 1.8 supersport) by the time you`ve seen it and changed up, you`ll be just about be at max power, ie: 6800 🤔
7Nut
Shagbat 3 modes- Cumulative - LEDs illuminate cumulatively Sequential - LEDs illuminate one at a time Shift light - LEDs only flash at the upper limit of the red zone From what you've said, your settings for sequential would be Green 1500-4000, yellow 4500-5500, red 6000-6500. Will I get commision for all this off Datatool?

Jason Plato
The Datatool light doesnt have to be set in 500rpm steps ( 6000 , 7000 , 7500rpm etc etc ) , the setup procedure firstly references a set point that the first green light will illuminate - this could be 5800 rpm , then the yellows are set 2x500rpm steps later @ 6800 then the reds at 2x500rpm steps later @ 7800 rpm M&P motorcycles sell them ~ Mandp.com Dave

Richard Gibson
The best unit is the Sure Shift II at www.sureshift.com. The are an option on most new Caterhams. On the Caterhams they are preprogrammed with the shift points. The sure shift 2 has many feature including capturing RPM averages as well as as close to a formula one type engineering an be. It has a ground, switched positive (like a radio hook up) and a wire that goes to the Tach, Coil, or any other ign ition area where you get a pulse. My unit was default for 4 cylinders and I had it programmed (and mounted) and running through the streets. There are many wasy to set it up so it suits your needs Just email Julian at the website. He is very helpful Richard Gibson

anon7
Ok , Looking at it, I would appear to have settled on the Datatool, any advice from someone who`s done it, as to where the best place for feeds/earths and tacho pulse etc much appreciated. Also best connection route, I`m assuming scotch locks are still frowned upon a little 🤔 Thanks for all your help been much appreciated
