MJ
On behalf of all the mechanically challenged 7 owners out there, does anyone know when / if there will be another of these days. I recall from LF that the last one was down in Surrey somewhere. Alternatively, if no dates known, anybody know who organises them?
ewenm
A South West one would be good (if that's what SW means in your Location!) 71560 miles and counting... but knackered alternator ☹️
neil.cavanagh
I'd like to go on one of these if arranged... Brooklands again would be great for me, but SW would be OK... especially if Ewen could take me out to meet the lovely ladies in Bath that he keeps on mentioning in the sheds..... ewenm
I have no lovely ladies in Bath at the moment - I'm travelling to London this weekend and Edinburgh early next month in the pursuit of lovely ladies 71560 miles and counting... but knackered alternator ☹️

Ferrino
Yeah, I'm definitely up for it. And a change of venue to the SW would be welcome too, but not essential!

Alias
I'd be up for a session in the SW too. Who would be the best person to do this? One car - 1400 Supersport with 6 gears and clamshell wings.
Tarek
SW would be great. I could even provide a faulty car for you to fix ☹️
Sheds Moderator
Shame I can't come. Not that I need a basic maintenance refresher but it would be socially good. I used to have a great arrangement with a mate - one day we'd play with cars, another we'd restore his house. Everyone won - I got more done on the car because he's very knowledgeable and at the time I wasn't, he got to play with cars, and even his wife was happy because the 2 of us achieved more on the house in 1 day than he did alone in 2. Unfortunately I moved away and found that solo car maintenance is much less fun than doing it with someone else (bit like something else I could mention 😳). Significantly he has still to finish his house restoration 10 years on! I know of a few people who have hooked up with someone nearby and set aside an evening or afternoon a week to fix cars. You get loads done and can always repair to the pub for an hour at the end. What a great evening, and even the most unreasonable SWMBO ought to be happy with it. Sadly out here I've yet to find any likeminded souls. Ah well.
RobP
So far everyone who has replied (with the possible exception of Tareq) is in the North east as far as I'm concerned. That being said I am interested, please count me in. as long as I don't have to go further north than Bristol! 😬 Rob

stonesracing
Could you make it not too far from Cambridgeshire?? 😬 I would love to come to any mechanics course as I dont know which screwdriver you use to take the wheels off!!
Sheds Moderator
I believe that most tech colleges offer night clsses, some of them let you bring your own car. Now if I were the instructor on that and someone offered to bring in a 7 in order to learn about it, and do some maintenance, I'd be delighted. They have very good facilities too - proper lifts, you name it. The only problem is that once you've done it this way scratching around in a dark lockup loses its appeal. Silver 21
If there is a genuine interest I can (possibly) gain access to a workshop with lifts, tools and everything. The only trouble is is its in the midlands (Coventry area) not in the SW as most people are asking for. I know my way round a 7 and mines a Xflow but it would ideally need somene else to offer their mechanical services and a K series Graham Competition Secretary How many events for 2004?????? Lawrence_Z
There will be several of these introductory weekends during the year up here in Edinburgh. We also are having a build a kit session too, next month IIRC....if it's really sucessful we'll strip the car and build it again for anyone that misses it the first time Lawrence Scottish Area Organiser
Ferrino
BTTT Just in case any AO's in the SW missed it! Don't think we'd all fit in my garage, so that's out of the question.
ewenm
If it does happen in the SW I'll happily offer my car (1.6 K-Series). It's done over 70,000 miles and has lived outside for the last 4 years, so probably has more maintainance requirements than most 😬 But I have no garage to tinker in, so would have to be elsewhere. 71560 miles and counting... but knackered alternator ☹️ Edited by - ewenm on 19 Jan 2004 13:45:
