andyj Posted December 11, 2003 Posted December 11, 2003 The Alternator (Lucas 17ACR) on my X-Flow has expired. I have heard that it may be possible to fit a Japanese unit. Does anyone have any details please. Andyj
greg Posted December 11, 2003 Posted December 11, 2003 Ah. Small can of worms here. Most Jap ones usually have different mounting lugs (offset 180 degrees, where as the Xflow needs one offset by 135 degrees (guess). Also the spindle size can vary between 15 and 17mm - I think the Lucas is 17mm - and again most jap ones are different. You need arround 40 ~ 50 amps, more is useless. Brise do some very expensive moded jap ones, which I will eventually get ..... I've never had a jap alternator fail.....been through 4 on my 2 xflows! Sig: If it is such a big issue why are the WSCC, Piston Heads, SELOC, BBC, Channel 4 ... not members only?
Roger Sunderland Posted December 15, 2003 Posted December 15, 2003 Andy, I have a 2 year old crossflow alternator surplus to requirments. It is a Lucas type and could be yours for £30 plus postage. e-mail for more details.
