Apologies to those that emailed me re gearbox ratios, I have been without a phone for a few days(internet withdrawal sysmtoms) Water in me wires appently according to BT.

I had my gearbox rebuilt by BGH Geartech in Kent, new syncro(cause of the rebuild) Some internal mods to aid internal gearbox lubrication, drain plug, and dippy stick to see if the level is correct. 2nd, 3rd, 4th, gears remained unchanged, A higher ( or lower ?) First gear 2.80 was 3.65 and modified 5th .85 (maybe .87) was .82. Cost was about 450 pounds IIRecall

Car is a 1400SS with 3.92 LSD. The gear box has certainly made a difference especialy 1st which drops nicely on the cam to 2nd. 5th is not so long and the drive is easier. Do really use 5th when motoring ;o) 4th generally takes the strain. however as a cruise gear the new 5th is ideal.Pickup when crusing is a lot better.

Furthur details can be found on Dave Andrews excellent site, (I have not got yhe current address) but someone will have it.

If you have a bog standard 5speed box ,ImHumbleExperience it is the first and best value for 450 pounds you want spend on any upgrade.
