David_Stamp Posted June 13, 2022 Posted June 13, 2022 I am thinking of getting a replacement 13" spare wheel now that I have moved to 13" Apollo/Avon ZZS from the earlier 14" Minilites. What wheel offset should I be choosing to ensure the 6" x 13" spare wheel will fit both the rear and front arches? I believe the Caterham 6" wide Apollo wheel offset is ET24, but I have seen some cheaper John Brown Wheels at both ET 23 and ET25 offsets. Surely 1 mm lower or higher should not be too critical? Any advice please?

aerobod - near CYYC Posted June 16, 2022 Posted June 16, 2022 10mm either side of ideal will normally be OK, unless the cycle wings are closer than a finger width to the tyre sidewall. The shape of the wheel inner face should be checked against the caliper profile on the front for clearance and with 13" wheels, the wheel barrel should be checked for clearance to the deDion end plates.
David_Stamp Posted June 16, 2022 Author Posted June 16, 2022 Thank you Golf Juliet Tango and Aerobod - good advice both
