tony isherwood
I thought (a year ago) that I had the answer to the problem of dripping sulphuric acid on the passengers knees. (tight turns and battery acid slopping out of the battery vent holes). I connected a down tube and used a couple of right-angle aquarium connectors. I have now found that they have disintegrated in less than a year. Any ideas of a fix ? a) Just seal up the vent holes with mastic ? b) Find some other connectors that aren't effected by acid ? c) Other suggested fixes d) --- z) drill holes in the floor to drain excess fluids. mark.hall
Assuming you have room.........move the battery off the scuttle shelf to a lower point in the car. Either inside or outside the footwell, at floor level.
CHRIS CLARK
Tony. When I got my car there was no vent pipe fitted; just a hole out of the battery top 'gallery' for venting. I too made the neat job of using fish tank elbows etc. and they too did disintergrate. I looked on the factory tour (the one you organised!!!) and Caterham poke the pipe straight into the opening and retain it further down on the chassis with cable ties so it is well away from draining onto the chassis. Crude, but it works! Good Luckthumbsup.gif

Rob Walker
Use a length of the clear windscreen washer pipe it fits onto the battery vent after heating in hot water, then run it down the bulkhead and below the floor of car. Block off the other vent with silicon sealant.
