heptagon Posted June 14, 2021 Posted June 14, 2021 Hi, can people more knowledgeable than me tell me about the differences between the normal 6 point Caterham harness and the Schroth one that the Academy cars have fitted. Why are they switched and does it make any difference when back on the road. Are they switched out again just to have matching Caterham harnesses on ex-Academy cars?
Area Representative Paul Richards Posted June 14, 2021 Area Representative Posted June 14, 2021 I don't know the definitive answer, but it could be that the Schroth harness is more suited to the HANS device used for racing i.e. it has reduced width shoulder straps. The Schroth harnesses are very good quality and suitable for road and race. I found the Caterham branded harnesses very stiff to adjust.
Leadership Team Toughie Posted June 14, 2021 Leadership Team Posted June 14, 2021 I have been told that the Schroth harness has shorter pads stitching the buckle to the strap. This means that if you're a bit thinner, you can get it a bit tighter.
