grumpy the 7th Posted May 15, 2021 Posted May 15, 2021 Hi all.I have purchased a Ring RAC900 air pump (and yes. It IS very fast at pumping tyres up) However I would like to fit a different tyre inflator gauge to it and looked for a new FEMALE coupler to fit to this inflator gauge. But I can't find out what make or size the existing MALE connector is. I "think" it's an 'automotive' fitting but can't find anything like this.I have contacted Ring but they don't know what the connector make/type/size is The FEMALE coupler I want to fit the male (in the photo) into ideally needs a 1/4" BSP male thread (the coupler {just} in the photo has a much smaller male thread it's 9.5mm diameter and the nut is 14mm across flats)Anybody know what and what size this is please?
ScottR400D Posted May 15, 2021 Posted May 15, 2021 Most of the UK uses PCL type couplers. A lot of compressors come with what you show. I usually just cut off and fit a PCL.
rj Posted May 16, 2021 Posted May 16, 2021 I've searched a bit, and none of my suppliers have anything remotely like. My advice would be to replace what you have with something more common.
SM25T Posted May 16, 2021 Posted May 16, 2021 Take it to a hose supplier ... they sell fittings and hose. Plenty of them about.
Wrightpayne Posted May 16, 2021 Posted May 16, 2021 This is the closest looking thing I could find and worth investigation. They are used on pressure washer connections for triggers etc...https://www.mycarcleaning.co.uk/products/3-8-quick-release-hose-trigger-gun-couplings?_pos=3&_sid=4d5943f04&_ss=r
grumpy the 7th Posted May 16, 2021 Author Posted May 16, 2021 Hi, all. Thanks for the input, I've still not seen anything remotely like the thing on the end of my pipe. I think I'll cut the 'funny' end off and insert a 1/4 BSP tail into the pipe so I can fit almost anything easily available. rog
grumpy the 7th Posted May 17, 2021 Author Posted May 17, 2021 I've had a reply from another 'Ringautomotive' contact I found andthey replied "I am sorry, I am not allowed to provide the information you have requested". At least it means that I've saved that employee from being shot
Wrightpayne Posted May 17, 2021 Posted May 17, 2021 Looking at images of the Ring 900 via google the compressor seems to have a short rubber hose with what looks like a Euro style connector. Can you make up an 'extension' hose with these fittings, which are widely available?
Wrightpayne Posted May 17, 2021 Posted May 17, 2021 Or do you know a friendly engineer who could make one?
ECR Posted May 17, 2021 Posted May 17, 2021 It's not exactly a euro connector although it is similar.
