Bomba Posted October 18, 2020 Posted October 18, 2020 HiHaving built my 360R 3 years ago I am thinking now to upgrade the engine.Looking around the Premier Power F225 looks good and I like the idea of the extra induction noise from the throttle bodies but I do 2-3 track days a year and don't want to be black flagged for noise limits.Anyone out there with a similar set up such as 420R with TBs and experience at track days with it?Any info appreciated.
mossy7 Posted October 18, 2020 Posted October 18, 2020 Premier power also offer a carbon air box for the 225 upgrade. I have this and not only does it look amazing it reduces intake noise substantially.
Area Representative Geoff Brown Posted October 19, 2020 Area Representative Posted October 19, 2020 My R400D with RBTB, de cat & open Pipercross filter has consistently noise tested at 98dba.
ScottR400D Posted October 19, 2020 Posted October 19, 2020 My R400d with Titan RBTBs and a standard side exit silencer has always been OK on TDS. IIRC, it’s around 100 dB or so.
Obodiah Posted October 20, 2020 Posted October 20, 2020 I've got the F225 upgrade with the foam air filter, noise at ~7500 rpm was 105db measured with an iphone noise meter app and standing about 1.5m from the filter (+20metres above sea level, 85% humidity, 11 C). Attenuation is around 6db for each doubling of the distance so the noise level should be under 100db 3m away and around 95db 6m away. Lots of factors to consider and hardly laboratory conditions but hope this helps.
