A7 OOH Posted October 3, 2020 Posted October 3, 2020 Can someone help me with regards to the timing mark graduations on the right hand side of the engine block (facing engine)I can see the marks which are highlighted in white what I want to know is what the graduations are in respect of degrees before TDC.Facing the engine and moving in a clockwise direction what are the graduations and what do the represent. No simple diagram in any of the build manuals.
OldAndrewE Posted October 3, 2020 Posted October 3, 2020 The marks on mine are on the timing cover, not the block. Is this what you mean? Diagram from Haynes manual below
orangepeel61 Posted October 3, 2020 Posted October 3, 2020 That doesn't look right to me, the Mexico must be different, mine is like this (taken from Haynes escort manual)If its not clear: the marks are, from the bottom, DTC, 4, 8 and 12 Deg.
Ian Macquarie Posted October 3, 2020 Posted October 3, 2020 Orangepeel61 beet me to it - I was just about to say the same. #3 is how mine is.
A7 OOH Posted October 4, 2020 Author Posted October 4, 2020 Thanks to all.Exactly what I was looking for.
AnkerB-S Posted October 4, 2020 Posted October 4, 2020 I find it difficult to believe that some Xflows rotate in one direction while others rotate the opposite way. Mine works as orangepeel61's picture,
OldAndrewE Posted October 4, 2020 Posted October 4, 2020 Anker, they are not opposite direction - both diagrams show clockwise rotation viewed from the front. Just different age of engines. I think my engine must date from the 1970s (it came out of an old grasstrack racer I bought for the engine and gearbox)
