techbod Posted September 13, 2020 Posted September 13, 2020 Car '89 live axle, classic front suspension setupChasing down strange noises on the Caterham, I have found that the inner bearing race on the passenger side hub has spun and scored the stub axle. Can anyone confirm that the correct replacement part number should be UKC697 as linked below?https://www.canleyclassics.com/?diagram=triumph-spitfire-mki/ii-front-suspension&ptno=UKC697Thanks
TomB Posted September 13, 2020 Posted September 13, 2020 Give Chris Mintoft aka Mr Redline a ring, bet he’ll have it in stock.

Wrightpayne Posted September 13, 2020 Posted September 13, 2020 I helped Tazio change a couple of these as I have a 1T arbor press. Needed a tube on the lever and came out with a bang, like a gun going off.If doing again I think I'd apply some heat to the casting with a hot air paint stripper.RegardsIan
7 wonders of the world Posted September 13, 2020 Posted September 13, 2020 Morse tapers respond better to a shock to release as opposed to an increasing load with a press.Firmly support the upright with the stub free from the ground, place nut on rear face about 1 turn from fully home.Apply very sharp blow with 2lb knocking stick... and out it pops, remove nut and your done.
techbod Posted September 13, 2020 Author Posted September 13, 2020 Thanks very much for the replies and helpful advice. Its much appreciated.
