Parbo
I have a 1996 K-series 1.6 Supersport with 6-speed box, wide track front suspension, 4 pot front brakes, de-dion rear end etc.It is a fixed platform car and will not pass the standard "Coke tin under the sump" ground clearance test. In fact, it has only 67mm ground clearance unladen. My previous VX had adjustable platform suspension and I want to convert this car but I am a bit confused.Do I buy 4 new adjustable shockers and, if so, what do you guys recommend (preferably without me having to sell a kidney or flogging the missus into the slave trade) ?The other option seems to be a CC adjustable platform kit (DSSU01K). Do you just fit this kit to the existing Bilsteins?Any advice / guidance would be gratefully received.l
David Belding
I have a very similar car and fitted a set of adjustable Nitrons last year Best thing I ever did. Transformed the handling and ride. Definitely worth the money and very easy to fit.
SM25T
Yes you can fit the kit to existing Bilsteins. Just check there are grooves in the bodies for the circlip to seat in.
Parbo
Thanks David. What was the cost and where did you get them?
Parbo
Cheers. the kits are out of stock at CC (according to the website), are there any other suppliers or has anybody got a kit they don't need and are willing to sell?

AdamQ
IMHO Protech are worth looking at as an affordable/good value option - and very helpful and pleasant to deal with.FWIW ...
Parbo
Thanks Adam, will do. I am still exploring all options.
SM25T
I bought a set of 4 one way adjustable dampers with height adjustment and new springs. Dampers from Protech, revalved to suit the Caterham by ProComp Motorsport who also sourced the springs. Only £576 delivered for all 4.
David Belding
From ‘Nitron Racing Systems” https://www.nitron.co.uk/buy-online/automotive/caterham/wide-track-de-dion/wide-track-de-dion-post-1996--96--/caterham-wide-track-de-dion--post-96--nitron-street-series-suspension-kit£853.80. They were very nearly perfectly set out of the box. I did ‘corner weight’ the car & checked the rake but the adjustments were very small.
