intermanxnorton
Can anyone advise where to site a 28mm auxiliary power socket ? I’m reluctant to start drilling my dash in case I haven’t left enough clearance to squeeze in a hole of this diameter. It is a normal cig. lighter socket. Someone said to drill this hole in the bulkhead close to where the air box is under the bonnet. Any advice would be useful. Thanks
Wrightpayne
There are loads of posts in the archives on this topic. I used a Sutars surface mounted socket - using a bit of metal plate with a couple of rivnuts installed, I managed to clamp it onto the windscreen wiper bracket at the left hand end of the dash. AdamQ
I've got one at each end of the scuttle, fairly low down - just above the right knee on the driver's side and in the corresponding position on the passenger side (had to fit the one on the driver's side after I realised I couldn't reach the other one when belted in ... D'oh! ).Adam
StevehS3
If you don’t have a heater there is a blanking plate which is ideal because you don’t feel like you are drilling a big hole in the car.
Stridey
Mine was fitted passenger side scuttle. It’s tucked away out of sight, and good position for wore to Sat Nav or charging a phone tucked into a Softbits tunnel bag.I would think other places would be the knee panel (plenty of room behind those) or I have see them fitted on rear bulkhead between seats. When ch is Wher I have a net for storage of bits and bobs on occasionMine is wired direct to battery with fuse, so does not turn off on cutoff switch. TigerSuperSix
On my 2016 there is a blanking plug un the passenger side knee panel. Remove the plug and the 12v socket fits straight in the hole and the wiring is already there in the loom (cable tied up) so you can connect straight into it. ScottR400D
I put mine in the side of the fuse box cover wired straight to the battery with an in line fuse. I use it mainly to charge the battery.

Phil G
Not sure if 2015 model has the fuse box cover. If yes then this is a good place to mount the socket.
