Tony Martyr
How do you take individual wire/connector pins out of the plug of a MEMS ECU? Being a mechanical engineer my next attempt will be based on brute force unless someone can tell me the trick. I assume there is a plastic catch that is somehow released via the space above each pin but I haven't managed to figure it out and now its lunch time. I am now stripping out all of the ex-MEMS wires that are redundant and being replaced by the DTA loom, this is a job of considerable bravery for a mere mechanical so I need all the help I can get
Edzup Ezzer
I too am a 'mere mechanical' but as I recall you need a jewellers type screwdriver to depress the 'tine' inside the connector. I should be able to check with 'someone who should know' on Monday. If nobody else comes up with the answer in the meantime then 'watch this space'. Tony Martyr
Success! The trick is not to depress the invisible tang but to lift it with the blade of a jeweler's screwdriver. Now I need a crip tool and spare inserts to connect the old and new together. Christmas List.
Peter Carmichael
Tony, I have not yet met a crimping tool that actually works. I always solder connections, even to the small connections in the ECU connector.
