Area Representative Nick Bassett Posted September 27, 2017 Area Representative Posted September 27, 2017 .... this might be a really stupid question, but refitting my hoodsticks last night for the first time and I cannot work out how to fit the small bolt/screw that goes through the attachment on the body and then into the hood stick tube. It is retained by a small nylock nut, but from what I can see, this nut goes into the hoodstick tube and attaches to the bolt/screw, however I cannot work out how to hold this nut whilst screwing the bolt in & tightening due to the narrowness of the hoodstick! There is probably something really obvious that I'm not doing - can anyone suggest what it is please?!!Many thanksNick
Jim 123 Posted September 27, 2017 Posted September 27, 2017 Nick I on mine the nut is welded to the hood stick inner tube to hold it in position. If your's is not maybe a pair of long nosed pliers will get the thread started?
Area Representative Nick Bassett Posted September 27, 2017 Author Area Representative Posted September 27, 2017 Hi Jim - thanks - yes I have tried that and with my trusty thin nosed Gerber, but even that is slightly too big!Might have to resort to a pair of tweezers, as everything else I have is too big.
elie boone Posted September 27, 2017 Posted September 27, 2017 With masking tape you can make a double side tape, put this on a flat piece of material and put the nut on the double sided tape and insert in the hood stick tube.
Area Representative Nick Bassett Posted September 27, 2017 Author Area Representative Posted September 27, 2017 Like that idea Elie - will give it a go - thanks
Area Representative Nick Bassett Posted September 28, 2017 Author Area Representative Posted September 28, 2017 Thanks Elie - it worked a treat! CheersNick
Wrightpayne Posted September 28, 2017 Posted September 28, 2017 I have long artery forceps for fiddly stuff in the garage - usually used for retrieving non magnetic stuff I've dropped into inaccessible places!Ian
