Stewart Collier Posted August 13, 2017 Posted August 13, 2017 I'm replacing the rotor arm on my 1997 K series Roadsport. The Haynes manual says after fitting the new rotor arm fit a new bolt. There is no mention of this on any other forums. There is a blue substance on the threads of the old bolt. I presume it is Loctite .
Jonathan Kay Posted August 13, 2017 Posted August 13, 2017 Not sure what you're asking... ?Have you got DVA's notes? There's one for sale.Jonathan
Stewart Collier Posted August 13, 2017 Author Posted August 13, 2017 I'm sorry if I didn't make myself clear. I've removed the retaining bolt and the old rotor arm. I've fitted a new rotor arm. The Haynes manual say after replacing the rotor arm a new retaining bolt should be fitted. Is this strictly necessary as it isn't mention on any forums.
oilyhands Posted August 14, 2017 Posted August 14, 2017 You can reuse the old bolt if you add a dab of loctite, the stock bolt is patch locked , loctite is just as effective.Oily
John Vine Posted August 14, 2017 Posted August 14, 2017 The blue bit is Rover "Patchlok". IME, Loctite 243 on the old bolt does the job just as well.JV
Stewart Collier Posted August 14, 2017 Author Posted August 14, 2017 Thanks everyone. Done a bit more research and although the manual says use a new bolt the general consensus is to put a bit of loctite on the old one.
Wrightpayne Posted August 15, 2017 Posted August 15, 2017 Oopps - another job I need to re-visit.Interestingly, the new Lucas rotor arm would 't go on so ended up re-fitting the old one. Anyone else found its a tight fit?Ian
