rj Posted August 10, 2017 Posted August 10, 2017 Once upon a time Oily had given information on the Rover cams and had helped to identify different cams.I have been searching the forum but without luck. Can anyone point me to the thread where he did so?I'm trying to identify the cams in a 1.6 that was converted from 1.4 but no-one knows how
oilyhands Posted August 10, 2017 Posted August 10, 2017 The first thing is to look at the end of the cam (gearbox end) to see if anything is stamped on it, all Piper cams have the profile number/designation stamped on them.If they have no markings then the chances are that they are standard. If you remove the cam cover you can look at the shaft itself for any markings, if the cam core has a raised band between cylinders 3 and 4 then it is most likely a TF135/X power 140 cam.If you an measure the lift that will give a clue, if it s noticeably more than 8,8mm then it is not a stock cam.If you take a photo of one of the lobes (pointing up) from the front of the engine I may be able to hazard an educated guess.Oily
