jonathantennantbtinternet Posted July 30, 2017 Posted July 30, 2017 Can anyone direct me where to look to solve this fault. Thanks Jon
Jonathan Kay Posted July 30, 2017 Posted July 30, 2017 What sort of gauge? Is it switched with the water temperature? Any recent work? Other instruments working fine? Do you have the relevant wiring diagram and a multimeter?Jonathan
David aka Blue7 Posted July 30, 2017 Posted July 30, 2017 I had this on my CSR last year, in my case it was a faulty sender unit
John Vine Posted July 30, 2017 Posted July 30, 2017 This depends on what model your 7 is, and what sender you have, but it could be you have a short to earth somewhere along your sender wire. JV
jonathantennantbtinternet Posted July 30, 2017 Author Posted July 30, 2017 Sorry bit more info.2005 Ex Acadamy, 1.6 k series. Everything else appears to work fine , it a new car to me and it's oil pressure not tempt. I do have a wiring diagram and mult meter
Jonathan Kay Posted July 30, 2017 Posted July 30, 2017 Have a look at the wiring to the sender and any connectors: any visible damage? Then remove the wire at the sender: what does the gauge now do? (Same thought as JV's.)Jonathan
jonathantennantbtinternet Posted July 31, 2017 Author Posted July 31, 2017 Cheers, where abouts would the sender be on the engine ?
SM25T Posted July 31, 2017 Posted July 31, 2017 Under the front of the engine ... In the oil filter housing. Senders are notoriously unreliable. Many of us changed to a mechanical gauge with capillary hose. Costs about the same as a new sender ... And lasts more than a year !!
