Martin Ray
I hear that water gets under the lqcquer on Carbon fibre wings - and consequently caterham dont reccomend it. Any comments from those with/without lacquered wings?
mark.hall
I may be missing something, but why would you want to lacquer carbon wings? Or do you mean the underside, to protect them from road debris?
WillPaul
*A* reason for lacquering carbon wings is so they don't fade from UV exposure. That's why you see some older CF parts looking dull and slightly brown. I think there's a brand called Liquid Glass (which doesn't seem that widely available) which provides UV protection and will keep the CF parts looking newer for longer..... and very, very shiny indeed! will mango superlight with lots of CF but no lacquer.... Mike Bees
Water won't get under there if it's done properly. It's standard practice to put a UV protective coating onto any composite part that's exposed, particularly in the marine environment - and there's no shortage of water there!
