Andy1912 Posted May 17, 2016 Posted May 17, 2016 Helloive had my 7 for about 18 months. I put it in for a geo set up but the garaged noted a few problems so postponed that. I need to change a front tie rod and rear CV gaitor. It looked like the latter was covered by the above series, but when I open up No 6 only the first few topics are covered. Am I doing something stupid? Also, I don't suppose there is a dafties guide to these kinds of jobs if not GTKYS, on YouTube would be great...ThanksAndy
Jonathan Kay Posted May 17, 2016 Posted May 17, 2016 Welcome.Haven't got time to check those articles at the moment.Track rod gaiter:Have you found Stu's trick of unscrewing the rod and counting the turns rather than splitting the joint? (The links in that thread are broken, it isn't you.)Jonathan
Andy1912 Posted May 18, 2016 Author Posted May 18, 2016 Thanks for getting back to me. Unfortunately I think there may have been a picture in the original thread you linked to, so A D and son don't mean anything to me.... andy
Jonathan Kay Posted May 18, 2016 Posted May 18, 2016 They are. But do you get the approach from the verbal description?Jonathan
Andy1912 Posted May 18, 2016 Author Posted May 18, 2016 No :)I have a mate who said he'd pop round so I may just do that. I'd hoped there might be a guide for dummies so wouldn't need to do that, but it's not a big deal I guess. Thanks anyway Jonathan.
Jonathan Kay Posted May 18, 2016 Posted May 18, 2016 I'll have a look for a better description... how about Post #8 in this thread, not the method in the first few posts before that. More words and no pictures.Jonathan
Andy1912 Posted May 18, 2016 Author Posted May 18, 2016 Thanks again Jonathan. I think I'm a visual person, so best get my mate round I think.Cheersandy
Wrightpayne Posted May 18, 2016 Posted May 18, 2016 Andywhere abouts are you - there may be someone local who can help?I've done all the CV boots on mine - you'll need to take the driveshaft out. One part has a 'can' that needs peening with a hammer - definitely a two person job just because you need to hold the joint together whilst the edge is hammered over. The sierra haynes manual covers the job isbn 1 85960 090 5.RegardsIan
