No flats on new steering rack track rods

I'm in the process of fitting a new steering rack from Caterham and there aren't any flats on the track rods to put a spanner on to adjust the tracking.

Is this normal now, the old rack had them, or have they been forgotten?

Is it ok to file my own on or will I create stress raisers on the rods?

push the gators back a little as they are probably hiding

Normal I think (from memory). The racks have changed over the years and I think this is common on recent racks.

If they don't appear after Peeling Slowly and Seeing what's the SOP? I'd prefer a self-grip wench to grinding...
