John Gaines Posted April 16, 2016 Posted April 16, 2016 Looking to give bodywork some tlc as the car is nearly 20 years old. Has anyone robbed the panels down with wet and dry before polishing it? What would be the best grades to work with?Regards, John

82 OX Posted April 17, 2016 Posted April 17, 2016 Yes Ive just done mine. With advice from the Polishing Shop, I used fine compound with the finest steelwool. Then polished with Alu Belgom.Nice job.Pat
Wrightpayne Posted April 17, 2016 Posted April 17, 2016 I used to use Alu Belgom - polished ali cars are hard work but once you're on top of it easy to maintain.I chickened out and had it painted after a couple of years !!Ian
MADMALC Posted April 17, 2016 Posted April 17, 2016 Have a pot of flour handy and keep dipping your polishing off cloth in it, this will help to get the black residue under control. If you have a compressor to blow off any residual flour it helps but if not just blow it away with a quick drive.
