Powderpuff
Ok, simple question...I hope. Which is the most suitable brake fluid to use in a standard braked k series for road / trackday use. See, told you it was simple (but not to us accountants) Ta.
tgracing
Bit of a downer on accountants at the moment, but here's my 2p anyway. I use Halfords DOT 5.1. The pedal is rock hard all day on the track and on the road there's plenty of feel. IMHO go for anything else and feel the pedal hit the floor after a few laps. sad.gif Of course, real racing drivers don't use their brakes, so I'm just saying what other people have told me. wink.gif Cheers, Davebo. See I don't hold a grudge.

Paul Ranson
> Which is the most suitable brake fluid to use in a standard > braked k series for road / trackday use. Fresh stuff. I'm not convinced that what you actually use makes much difference, but DOT 5.1 isn't expensive enough not to use. Change it every spring. If you want 'ultimate' because you can then AP600 works well. But it only lasts 3 to 6 months. If you don't keep it fresh then you might as well use DOT3. Pierre Gillet
I also use DOT 5.1 to my satisfaction. Use Easybleed to change it, its piece of cake. I know, Anna will be disappointed not to serve anymore as the bleeder assistant ...wink.gif Pierre
Alex Wong1697456877
Can you flush a DOT 4 filled system through with DOT 5.1 or do you have to empty it all out first? Alex
Andrew Russell
As far as I was advised prior to undertaking the very same task a few months ago, the non silicone fluids are all okay to 'mix'. By the the time that you've bled the system thoroughly enough new fluid will be in the system to disperse any of the old stuff. Not too bad a job in all and good for peace of mind. Regards, Andrew.
