Plenum or foam filter?

Guys, some advice please, my car has throttle bodies with a plenum and a cone filter above the rad, I have seen a lot of cars with a foam filter over the throttle bodies, what are the pro / cons?

As I understand it (happy to be corrected and learn)

Foam filter:

• Generally lower inlet temps 
• Greater air flow

Air box:

• Quieter

With a dome/sausage filter:

Pro: noise

Con: noise

It does look like the airflow will be strangled by the hose and cone filter, although on bikes there is a lot made of the plenum reducing turbulence and improving airflow through the throttle bodies.

I've got the plenum and a cone filter above the rad 

1. What are the thoughts on this drawing in cooler air than a dome filter?  and

2. will the sensors (air temp I assume?) mounted on the plenum back plate work ok with a dome filter?

I was considering changing to a dome as this may allow a greater air flow but then to to it properly I assume it would all need balancing again?
