jean materne
Good evening,I need a new temperature sender (as shown on the right of the picture) for my 2003 1.6 k-series engine. Can someone tell me the name of the manufacturer (VDO?), the part number and where it can be ordered ?Many thanks in advance for your help. For those who remember my (long) thread about k-series (presumably) oil sump gasket leak, it was in fact the rear crankshaft seal which was faulty (as someone very early mentioned). The engine has been taken out of the car and the seal replaced.Oil and water were filled in last night and the engine started at 1 AM. We tested the connection of the water temperature sender and it is OK, the sender is faulty.I'll get back to this repair with a few pictures in the corresponding thread. Thanks again to all those who offered advices and comments.Jeanhttp://www.heberger-image.fr/data/images/23771_temperature_sender.jpg
makingff
Hi JeanI have bought this and tested it and it works absolutely fine. Just be careful when putting the new one in as you musn't overtighten it.Simon
jradley
Isn't it this one you need, which is in stock ??John
Burnside
There's alwasy Redline Racing too - they're the next best to Caterham - if not better!!
John Vine
Isn't it this one you need, which is in stock ??I agree.ETA: There appears to be some corrosion on your existing sender. As it relies on a good earth to the water rail, a clean-up of the threads might get it working again.JV
SM25T
You will find that the new stock from CC has a round nail head now, rather than a flat blade. The same connector fits at 90 degrees. Just looks odd.
Tazio
Jean,I run a VX redtop engine and have just purchased a 120 degree VDO sensor from my local Vauxhall/Opel dealer, the part number is V0003439088, cost £11.99 inc vat.
SM25T
If you have the 'Caterham' branded gauge, it is from Caerbont. Assume they supply the sender too. Beware of alternatives.
jean materne
Thanks to all for your answers and advices.I just ordered the part from Caterham, with reasonable delivery charge to Belgium (!).And hopefully, it should have the "old style" plug. Ian B
If not, part 71167 from Redline at £11.80 +vat is what I have fitted.Looks identical to makingff's link above, but cheaper and the existing female spade connector attaches at right angles as SM25Ts post above.
