Hanns Per
my race clutch, hydraulic Duratec started to sqeak when disengaging and engaging. Its not the pedal or master cylinder its in the clutch. I assume its eithe rthe slave cylinder or ??? . Is there an easy way to solve this? Or does it mean I have to take out the engine? thks Hanns Per
Paul Deslandes
does it scream rather than squeek as it slips when picking up? Mine does and I put it down to the friction material rubbing on the metal pressure plates/flywheel etc. If it's a Superclutch, give them a ring and talk to Tony who should be able to suggest what to do - and what not to do. Hanns Per
Thks. It only squeaks when I press the pedal and when I release the pedal (but not the master cylinder or the pedal mechanics). Funny enough it seems to be erratic. When I drove after I wrote the post it did not squeak, its a Caterham race clutch.
DJ.
Having just suffered slave cylinder failure and taken the engine out, my advice would be to just try and ignore the squeak for now. It sounds like it is the clutch release bearing moving on the the tube around the gearbox shaft and the only way to improve it would be to change the slave cylinder assembly. It isn't expensive, but it is a pain to do. May be best as a winter project?Duncan
