Dominic Berry
I'm after a set of 13" wheels but I don't know what the styles look like. Anyone enlighten me? Any others I've missed? Pictures? Alex Wong1697456877
Minators - like superlights and minilights but made by K&N Alex
Dominic Berry
What are the 13" 5 'spoke' wheels called? The spokes are very fat & they are typically black with an ally rim. (see Ian Balson's green HPC with white band on www.x777cat.com). Do they fit on a de dion?
Mike Bees
Difficult to see from the picture, but they look like the split rim Superlight-R wheels. 'Best' option is to go straight for the Mike Barnby/R500 wheels. There was a set of 5 with brand new Avons going for offers over 1000ukp in the latest Low Flying... fast_cat
There are also the wheels on C7 KJT, (Kevin Thomas ?) - green , with yellow nose on the same site .. I don't know what these are referred to as , but I have a set.. I think they may also be made by K&N. Rob
Marius
Don´t forget the Image-wheels. They do some proper 13" split-rims, cheaper than the Superlight R ones by Caterham. Look like Minilites, just splitted (three parts). www.image-wheels.co.uk (I believe..)
c7kjt
My wheels are 13x6 K&N Minators, colouring referred to as Black/Highlite. K&N Minators are the make used by Caterham themselves. Mine came via the efforts Rob Morris, the only difference being that 'Caterham' isn't stamped into the rim. Nowadays all minilight/superlight/minator style wheels are available in alloy only but the superlight (or was it minilite) were originally constructed (back in the 60's) in magnesium. Talking of magnesium, you could add Dymag to the list, a set of black powder coated ones were fitted to that cosworth powered seven for sale earlier in the year (can't remember any more that that at the moment). The centres of the R500s are magnesium also Can confirm that Ian Balson's are Superlight rims (he lives just up the road), his are fitted to an HPC (de-dion). fast_cat
Kevin, re C7 KJT I believe the Minators are your new wheels. There are also pictures of your older wheels. These were the ones I was referring to, which I think are made by KN ? and exist on a few older Caterhams..? Cheers Rob
c7kjt
Rob, yup, quite right the old wheels are K&N too, have no idea what they're called. Have asked previously on this forum to no avail.
