LawrenceR
Quick new build question. Does anyone now if the lower rear damper bushes need sleeves? The manual specifices sleeves for the upper but does not mention anything for the lower? I have none left in the kit but it looks as if they should be used.ThanksLawrence
revilla
I have two pairs of rear dampers in the garage, all have metal sleeves inside the bushes at both ends.
LawrenceR
Thanks revilla. Are those sleeves part of the bushes or seperate sleeves inserted in side the steel inner of the bush?
revilla
I may have misunderstood. Mine have a single piece inner metal tube which is probably the one you regard as part of the bush. Do yours have additional sleeves inside these? My car is a 2003 imperial chassis. If yours is a new build it will be metric. I wonder if the sleeves reduce an imperial sized bush to fit a metric fastener? In which case I would guess you would need them all round, but I'm afraid I can't answer for sure as all my experience is imperial.
Bio
The rear dampers are secured with 1/2 inch bolts top and bottom and the sleeve is part of the damper eye bush and does not require and additional bush. The front dampers are secured with 8.00mm bolts top and bottom (5/16 on imperial chassis) and do require the additional bush/ insert to reduce the damper eye bush down to this size.John
mikecocker
Metric cars at the rear are 1/2" bottom and 10mm top. Top bush is sleeved.
LawrenceR
Thanks guys, I think I have selected the wrong bolts for the bottom. I will go out this evening and check.
