Cheap phone / tablet with Micro-HDMI output

In order to pick up live timing at race meetings and display it on our "hospitality area" TV, I need a phone with HDMI output OR a tablet with both SIM card (cellular) and HDMI output.

Preferably not locked to a specific network.

Anyone got anything suitable?  Or recommendations for a cheap (less than £100) device?

Hi Roger,

If you have access to a fairly recent Samsung Galaxy phone, S4 or later, you can get an adaptor  to convert to hdmi output off EBay,  mine was £7.00, works really well, even onto a 50inch screen.

Especially good for cheap Eurosport access.

Have you considered Chromecast? £30 and should work with most Android devices.

Thanks guys. Chromecast won't work as it needs a wireless network - can't use it from cellular, even with the phone in wifi hotspot mode. Might work with a mifi type device and a phone as controller, but would like to do it with one device if possible.

as it happens I do have an S4, and I've already ordered a MHL adapter cable, but don't really want to dedicate my main phone to this.

I've gone for a Raspberry Pi with a wifi dongle, a mifi device and a 6GB prepaid SIM card.

Let's hope the live timing web page from TSL renders properly on the r-pi. Guess I should be able to check next weekend.
