David Lowe
I disconnected my battery whilst working on my 1.4 k-series this morning. Now its re-connected the car won't idle. It starts but dies immediately unless you keep your foot on the accelerator. What have I done? More importantly, what do I do to put it right? StewartG
Sounds like you need to reboot the ECU, perhaps a K series owner will remind us how to.
Jason Plato
Is that the trick where you turn the ignition on and depress the throttle 5 times very slowly then start the car ?? Did you adjust the mounting of the filter whilst you were working on the car ?? , an overtightened filter can warp the housing and cause erratic idle . Tony Martyr
Yes You have lost the Idle Air Valve setting. Switch on the ignition and open and close the throttle fully 5 times then then then key to the next detent towards off. You may hear the IAV stepper motor adjusting the spool to the cold running position.
