eagle
So, how many more tests does Cook have to endure as captain? I've not seen his latest dismissal but it sounds like yet another shocker. That and the clear lack of warewithal to dismiss tail enders and a general lack of nouse when England are fielding surely means his days as captain are numbered? I almost feel (a little bit) sorry for him.
eagle
...or rather, how many more tests do the fans have to endure with Cook as captain...?
Leadership Team Golf Juliet Tango Posted July 10, 2014 Leadership Team Share Posted July 10, 2014 I have been busy, so missed the first two days against India. The inability to knock over the tail of opposing teams is a real millstone.
Leadership Team Golf Juliet Tango Posted July 10, 2014 Leadership Team Share Posted July 10, 2014 Never mind his captaincy (which appears to be something he has tried to learn when what I think we need is a captain to whom field-placings and bowling choices come naturally) his place in the batting line-up must be in doubt. There are plenty of county captains who have dropped themselves when their form is as bad as this.
TobyCoulson
The sooner he goes either as captain or opener the better.
TobyCoulson
No DRS because India don't want it. They can sod off. 😔 Fine if they're playing at home but when away they can put up with what ever the host nation wants
Mikey UC
...and listening to Boycot winging on for two days because there was no 3rd man. We lost 60 runs down t’ third man!!! Interesting listening to Vaughn on Wednesday saying his ideal batting position when captain was no. 3. While the openers were out he could stop being captain for a bit and get his batting head on. Leadership Team Golf Juliet Tango Posted July 11, 2014 Leadership Team Share Posted July 11, 2014 Vaughan does provide some interesting insights. Meanwhile 198-5 😔 Edited by - Golf Juliet Tango on 13 Jul 2014 06:30:
TobyCoulson
202-7 now. Ali was unlucky with a ball that didn't bounce as much as it looked it would and Prior didn't touch the ball when given caught behind.
eagle
So how on earth have these two managed to do so well and yet the main batting lineup were skittled over at 6-68 (link to stats). Well done to Root and especially Anderson. It's his maiden 50 in first class cricket!
TobyCoulson
Can he go on to a ton and perhaps we can bowl the Indians out cheaply. Turning into a good test

Harry No Sheds Flatters
Dhoni should be sacked after that inept display in the field, no imagination and worse than England 😔

eagle
Yes, very good. Hopefully they can get the tail this time. However, they've had problems knocking over tails in recent series. I think some of that comes down to how the bowlers are being used throughout the sessions, which (again) comes down to Cooky.
TobyCoulson
Stuttering to a draw but I think we can claim a moral victory considering where we were at one stage.
eagle
Agreed. At least in the last 24hrs or so, all three results have been an option.

TobyCoulson
Allegedly and without prejudice (need to say that these days in BC before some pompous self righteous w**nker gets all upset) apparently India are trying to bring a charge against our great all rounder Jimmy Anderson for pushing one of their players.
