Leadership Team SLR No.77 Posted June 23, 2014 Leadership Team Share Posted June 23, 2014 Before I attempt to make my own, I'm led to believe that SPA do an extended leg for the "Formula" mirrors ... does anyone happen to know how much longer it is than standard? Half my o/s mirror is obscured by the door frame (stanchion mounted) and where in the past I've "inverted" the leg within the mirror to help a little, I'd like a better solution. I suspect they need to be around 50mm longer and I'm tempted to do both sides. Stu.
Stationary M25 Traveller
Yes they do ....... but I don't recall how much. Ask Mr SPA !
Drumster
Stu, I have a pair of extended SPA legs and although the 'width' is the same as standard the height of the leg has an additional 15mm. They are fine for me but then mine are mounted on the Brooklands stanchion and I just needed some extra height to see over the rear wings. On that basis I reckon you'll be better off making your own. Myles
I bought a set donkey's years ago - there might be comparative pics on my site somewhere . Try here I'd probably try my own.
Leadership Team SLR No.77 Posted June 23, 2014 Author Leadership Team Share Posted June 23, 2014 Wow you've made them a lot taller, understandable for an aeroscreen though. Mine are mounted half way up the stanchions so already plenty high enough, just need to get them a little further out. I might investigate getting a bunch made up if anyone else is interested. Stu. BigCol
I bought some late last year... they're 1.5" longer than standard (and as the arm is angled slightly, raise the mirror a bit too). The vertical bit the mirror sits on is unchanged. Speak to Steve Hawkins at SPA on 01543 434580 (s.hawkins@spa-uk.co.uk) They usually stock various arms but didn't have any like I wanted when I called but made some up within a week. Price was circa £10 a piece plus VAT and carriage. They're very tidy but give the appropriate gear, shouldn't be difficult to make up yourself. Have gone aero since! 😳
Leadership Team SLR No.77 Posted June 24, 2014 Author Leadership Team Share Posted June 24, 2014 Thanks Col, before I start bending bits of ally bar I'll give Steve a call Stu.
myothercarsa2cv
If they don't know what you're talking about, I believe they are the stalks they use for Radicals (code on my invoice is FMA 11). Was bloody expensive when I got mine once VAT and carriage was added (£28.73 all in), but the vision is vastly improved. Invoice #33956 if that helps them find it.
