Caterham Lavantes for sale

Guest

Not one but two Lavante's are for sale at Sevens and Classics. Had a look today when picking up my car following a warranty repair (thanks chaps). Incredible cars, amazing detail on them and from what Andy Noble was saying, performance is on another level. One of them is pushing out a genuine 600bhp, which gives a power to weight ratio of near an F1 car!!!

Yikes, all that for a mere £60k too! 😳

The 600hp one probably has the same supercharged V6 motor as mine. I'd rather hoped they'd be worth a bit more as you'd have to write a cheque for £125k to get a new one.

What reg are they?

I didn't get any pictures as I was too busy taking ones of the 300SL Mercedes there when I turned up this morning (only worth around £1M *eek*).

£125k was indeed mentioned as the original new car price. Not sure on reg no.s but the V8 was white and the V6 was yellow. I was surprised at how much additional work had gone into them, apart from the engines.

Levantes are much more than just the motors. Pretty much everything is changed, including chassis mods, suspension, bespoke diff and Sadev gearbox, carbon propshaft, the list goes on.

I looked at buying the white car when Russell had it with Hilton & Moss 3 months ago. But I just couldn't agree a price with Russell. Does it still have the big rear wing on it, Mike?

Didn't know about the yellow one though...there haven't been that many V6s made, but speaking to Dave Mountain at Russell's recently, the V6 is an awesome engine and they've run it extensively on Mountune's dyno and if anything, It pushes out more than 600bhp!!

That's awful... Those poor V6 owners... *eek* 😬

Urgh, I seriously can't wait until I get to play with mine.

Peter,

a friend sent me photos about 6 months ago which I think are of yours?

Do you know Rob Wright?

I do, he's an old buddy and a fellow Guernseyman. We used to commit serious road crime both in Guernsey and later over here. *smile*

Chances are my brothers may have passed you on Vazon then and probably on the grass....I did wonder whether you hailed from those parts, given your surname - a Levante would be totally inpractical over there, other than up the Val des Terres!

Yup, I was born and spent my first 26 years there. I took part in most of the limited motorsport activities, mostly the hillclimb at the 'terres and the sprint at Vazon Bay, which is where I lived.

Only Piper I new was a Nick Piper as I recall, though I'm **** with names and most people had a nickname anyway.

I left there 16 years go, so it's highly unlikely it's the same Nick Piper *thumbup* though I did return for a few years to take part in the sprints. My 1500cc all-carbon hayabusa held the course record for a few years, ridden by Darren Warwick.

Now both pictured in their Showroom.

That V8 is... um... "unconventionally attractive" at the 🙆🏻 end, no?

I do like the idea of the pretty much totally anonymous V6 though...

I need that front spoiler for mine please. Whomever buys it please give it to me, thanks :)

Annoying that they're so cheap though, rather hoped they'd retain more value.
