IMovie, Flickr, Facebook movie upload issues

I'm trying to upload a sub 1-minute video to Facebook or Flickr. I've edited the movie in iMovie and saved it as 720p on to my camera roll on the iPad.

Flickr says that the 'image does not appear to be valid' - and, frankly, the speed with which it 'uploaded' is too quick so I don't think it worked at all.

Sharing to Facebook via iMovie takes ages - and then fails.

I'm getting pretty bored with this - Facebook, Flickr and iPads should all work without fail!

There's your problem.

Apple stuff "just works" when it's talking to other Apple stuff. Expecting the rest of the world to confirm Apple's often rather odd ways of doing things is generally a bit optimistic.

Have iMovie save the file as a conventional, standards-based movie file (mp4 *should* be OK, though depends what fancy codec they try to use) and then just upload it to the target website using their normal upload facilities.

+1.

There I did it again and agreed with Roger 😬 *thumbup*

I don't use Flickr but would suspect Codec issues. If all else fails 'MPEG Streamclip' (free download) is an excellent tool for converting files, will convert to WMV (among others) which is compatible with most platforms. Obviously best to create source file in best resolution possible!

Haven't had a chance to look at it during the day - I hope to have some more clips to upload by tomorrow though.

Yes, I don't really want to use anything other than my ipad. I have iMovie and iPhoto and for day-to-day social-media work, I don't really want to have to fire up my rFactor2 racing rig (it's a bit inconvenient to sit in a single-seater cockpit and use a keyboard and mouse) or my aged netbook.

This isn't rocket science - I'm not trying to create a 3D or 4K presentation - and I'm not using obscure micro-market-penetration kit!

Thanks.

From what I can tell you need to get them into your Camera Roll (you've probably cracked that bit :-)) then use another app to upload them to Flickr. I think some of them can do the scaling, and, possibly, recoding on the way. I can't see anything so far that will upload to both Facebook and Flickr.
