Quoting Dad:
And taking someone out without a helmet when its your first day at the track
Helmet's weren't obligatory.

Quoting Dad:
Oh and you need to learn some lines by watching other peoples video's 😔
Doubtful, considering I'm now the
holder. 😬

Just checking my maths 1:20 = 80seconds ?

Is that faster or slower than 57seconds ? the class 5 time in round 2

1) maybe you meant to say fastest on the day ?

2) What trackday organiser allows timing - it invalidates any liability insurance

Thanks for the heads up with these points and those raised above re helmets I will avoid this company like a rash on a pole dancers VuVuzela

Services We Offer

We have our own 'top gear' style leaderboard where we record all of the times throughout the day. Cars are split into classes, which allows for close competition throughout. Each month, the times are sent out to our mailing list, so you can keep track of your overall position, or see where you are in comparison to your mates.

I don't belieeeve it, the new "Lap Record" must be true, it's on their facebook page here

And maybe some instruction on harness use would be a good idea as well.

Daniel in the Lions Den *wink* *tongue*

I am sure it was FTD because some of the sprint days I've been to there some of the 7's are a tad quicker than that

Top Tip if you do anything like that wear a helmet and you get your passengers to put one on too.

Good to see you enjoying it mind I feared it might be polished to death *wink*

I know nothing about rules and regs for "fun" (for want of a better word) track days vs competitive sprint events, but it does seem unusual for an event organiser to offer "official" timings, classes and records whilst also seemingly not mandating any safety equipment whatsoever. They give the appearance of "a bunch of mates who hire a track", rather than a sanctioned sporting body.

Daniel, I'm glad you had a good time and are enjoying the car, no criticism of you whatsoever.

I am very curious as to how "SprintAndTrackday" would complete an accident form though, should a car with an un-helmeted driver or passenger come to upside-down-in-the-ditch style grief at an event.

I truly hope it's never a necessity, but accidents happen and motorsport can be dangerous, as the signs say...

Didn't I see somewhere that there is a new lap configuration so the new " lap record" will be different. I suppose there may be different lap records for different configurations and this is what Road racer is alluding to. Have to agree though that taking someone's Mum around a track whilst " on it " without a helmet is at best ill advised at worst ....well we don't need to mention it .

All in my humble opinion of course.

My understanding on the ‘lap record’ claim:

The track day organisers (Sprint and Track Day) use their own track layout at Curborough – it is not the normal layout used for MSA regulated competitions. Looking at the video the Sprint and Track Day start line seems to be where the emergency services are parked on an MSA regulated event. Therefore the lap record claim is only against drivers who have taken part in the Sprint and Track Day bash.

I think it might be THEIR lap record as opposed to THE lap record

I think timing on a single car run on a sprint circuit day is no problem (providing you acknowledge same to your insurers) .. it's somewhat different to timing on a track with other cars.

However, driving track style without safety equipment is stupid - I've seen a 7 upside down at Curborough and one or two more bounce of the back tyre wall.

I hope this doesn't put people off competing. Yes, the claims are a bit fanciful, but the enthusiasm is commendable.

I did a private day there a decade or so back - full timing. I'm sure we wore helmets and we definitely used the championship course. Great fun - times couldn't really be compared to normal competitions though as we were queuing up, doing a run and then queuing again - so warm tyres and many more runs in the day than you'd get normally.

The other 20% have not been to prison yet.

Glad your enjoying using the car *smile*

Look forward to hopefully seeing you at the Club sprint in August where the calibre of competition maybe just a tad higher than you experienced yesterday *wink* *thumbup*

It looks amazing. Your having fun great. What is interesting it looks as if you only need one gear. You save loads of time by not having to change gear.

Is it a track day well not like we know it, is it a sprint well no not as we know it.

Your having fun and work for a PR company no issue. Better on a "track day" than on the road.
