Bandits at 7 o clock

End of August I am going to my first proper air show in years at Shoreham.

The Canadian Lancaster is due to be there with our our own one & no doubt the Spitfire & Hurricane. The sound of at least 10 Merlin engines should be fantastic.

Have been working on site at Goodwood FOS for a few days these last 2 weeks and have been having lunch in the Aero club Cafe at the circuit with Mustangs and Spits coming and going and Super Cars going round the track too, Lovely *thumbup* 😬

We had a British Caledonian get together planned for Shoreham a couple of weeks ago but cancelled due big film thing happening. Saw a picture and it was all German flags etc some Helen mirren thing so we had to cancel.

If you've not been to an air show this one is good and loads going on including the engineering hanger, stalls, dog fights ( no not long sausage in a bun ones) and I think a 7 grouping, must check that myself

I gather the Vulcan is going as well unless it breaks down again.

I last saw the Vulcan at the last ever "Warbirds" Airshow at what was the former RAF West Malling Toby. Around 1991.

It is now an enormous housing & business development (Kings Hill) & the building hasn't stopped in 23 years.

Really looking forward to Shoreham *smile* going in the 7 & two tin top loads of family are also going. I hope the weather is good.

Two or three weeks ago Cathy's neighbour told us that he had heard through the grapevine (their son works for a chap who is connected with old warbird restoration I think) that a Spitfire was going to fly over Diss at 2.00pm on the Sunday. I forgot all about it but happened to be working in her garden and lo and behold at 2.30pm I heard a most recognisable noise approaching. Suddenly remembering I shouted to Cathy that the Spitfire was coming and legged it out of the garden (and away from the tree cover) out onto Fair Green, expecting a low level fly over and it would be on its way.

Oh no, we got a 5 minute display of swooping , climbing. steep banking and low(ish) fly overs before it gave the wing wave and headed off in the direction of Old Buck / North Norfolk *thumbup* *thumbup* *thumbup* *thumbup*

I have no idea who it was and why it chose Diss (have meant to Google it but keep forgetting) - it was wearing D-Day markings.

Also, for those of us in the arable farming world we had a national event , Cereals 2014, just down from Duxford last week. There were some nice aerial displays to be seen if you got fed up of looking at ploughs or talking about blackgrass. Unfortunately only one Spitfire but I think there was a Corsair ...certainly made a big thumping noise and had a large radial bonnet *thumbup*

There will be quite a few more Spitfires than just the one Martin *smokin*

Spotted a Spitfire flying over West Whittering on Wednesday towards IOW and gave a

nice bank on the way back. Spotted flying over Chichester on the evening.

You can tell it's not an ordinary aeroplane by the sound. *smokin*

We were on the IoW on Weds and saw that Spit over Culver Down, near Bembridge *thumbup*

Probably,,

"Hardwick Warbirds"; a local firm that takes in Merlin and Packard engines from all over the world. He flies a number of "Merlin" powered A/C. Music to my ears, even better then the howl of a well turned out multivalve 🥰
