Recover corrupt video file?

Red SLR

Recommended Posts

I have a 380mb video file on an SD card but when I try and copy it the file transfer dialogue in windows just sits there.

If I try and open the file it plays the first 5 seconds then stops.

I am pretty sure all the info is there - just something is corrupt.

Anyone know of any free tools that might fixt this problem?

If you can't copy it from the card, it sounds like a hardware problem on the card.

If it is all there, you may be able to access it directly with a video editor and save the video from before and after the bad section..

If you want to try and see if it will Dropbox to me (I'll PM you my email address), I'll have a look when I get chance to see if I can open it on Sony Vegas 10 software?

Quoting Jonathan Kay:
If you give us all Dropbox access someone might have something that works...

Jonathan

Better still, but I guess key is whether he can get it Dropbox in the first please. At least you've got more varied software trying to access it if you can

TBH its an "incident" from one of our truck cams - so I would rather not share it LOL!

The driver "had words" with someone - I think I will just have to write it off as his word against theirs and tell them he has had a slap on the wrists.
