DougBaker
I think this deserves a thread. Just switched over to see Brazil score the first goal of the tournament, but not quite at the end of the pitch they would have hoped for.
Roger Ford
Sorry, as a complete numpty when it comes to football - what does one need to see the Brazil v Croatia? Doesn't seem to be on Sky Sports - is it on any free channels or have BT (or someone else) got a monopoly? I'm not interested, but my son is. Wile7
Croatia deserved better. 2-2 would have been a fair result. Unlucky Croatia.....lucky Brazil.
myothercarsa2cv
Brazil are going to struggle if they play like that every game. I agree with Wile, 2-2 would have been fair. Oscar or Modric for MOTM? Tough call. eagle
Oscar impressed me. I actually was pleasantly surprised with Neymar as he tried hard, was everywhere on the pitch and showed some moments of good skill. I wasn't expecting much from him as I felt he did nothing for Barca this season.
TobyCoulson
Not the slightest bit interested in it. Fortunately the media hasn't gone as overboard as it usually does this time round.

Steve Campbell
Croatia surprised me...looked good on the break and worked hard with good discipline for most of the match...they deserved more. Brazil looked beatable. What's with the ref and the spray paint ? Does he not have the power / skill / capability to be able to explain where a line is....and then book / send off someone if they encroach ? Eric McLoughlin
I think the football knockers should refrain from posting on this thread. I honestly don't see the point. If they aren't that interested in the game, fair enough, but let those of us who are discuss the matches without silly interruptions from those who just want to let us know how much they dislike it. As for last night's match, Brazil did not impress - but often the first game in the tournament is not that indicative of the respective teams as they are too tentative. Brazil were a bit lucky last night and they will have to up their game if they are to overcome the likes of Spain, Germany, Italy etc.

Eric McLoughlin
I love the World Cup. I was a bit young to follow the 1966 tournament bit have been an avid watcher since the fantastic 1970 World Cup in 1970. The tournaments that really stick in my mind as "classics" are 1970, 1982 and 1990. However, I do think that the tournament is now too big and goes on too long. OliW
Croatia deserved a draw, I thought. They was robbed by the penalty. Not a bad opening game I thought. Bring it on!

Eric McLoughlin
I was actually 8 in 1966 - but not being English I probably wasn't caught up in what would have passed for "hype" in those days. Having said that, the one clear memory I have of the 1966 tournament was the song, "World Cup Willie" Here's a little trivial question - Advertising was banned from Wembley Stadium during the 1966 World Cup Final - except for one item. Can anyone tell me what that one "item" was?

Leadership Team Golf Juliet Tango Posted June 13, 2014 Leadership Team Share Posted June 13, 2014 The Mexicans are looking great against Cameroon. Having had two ligitimatre goals disallowed, they will be even more upset than Croatia about the quality of referee's decision taking.
