AFAIK pedant doesn't require a capital P (as written in the subject).

Usual boring stuff about double negatives being used for emphasis rather than logical negation for several centuries, but it does offer the opportunity to retell the following.

 

Lecturer: "... and so you now understand that in Standard English a double negative forms a positive, whereas in Persian and Russian it remains a negative. As an aside I would point out that despite extensive research throughout my career I have been unable to identify any examples of double positives forming a negative in any language. Unless of course, one of you knows better."

 

Student in the back row: "Yeah, right."

Somehow this reminds me of the one about the school kid that took their homework back up to the teacher and observed "Teacher, you forgot to put my mark in the red circle."

 

...to which the teacher replied "Actually, I forgot to put a circle around your mark..."
