Guest
Hi, Can anyone recommend a good place to get a Caterham MOT'd and serviced near Stafford? Thanks
Peter Mears
As a newbie to Stafford 18months ago I had the same question. I followed a tip from the guys at the Swan meet and ended up with Newcastle test centre. Ive been twice now and the owner Dave is nice bloke and knows his stuff. A small trek further north but at least he knows the cars. I noticed a new member in stafford noted in the mag this month, is that you? Guest
Hi Pete, Thanks for the info, I did mean to go to both the Swan meets in Jan and Feb but I was working. Yes I am listed in the Feb 14 mag. I haven't asked anywhere if they are set up for MOTing a Caterham but I know the previous owner in Abingdon found a place after a bit of searching so I thought I'd short cut that bit. Roadsport06
Newcastle Test Centre and post code is ST5 6NR for your satnav. Telephone number is 01782 621500. They did my first MOT. I have since found one in Sutton Coldfield that are friendly and ask me about the jacking points and treat the car with care.
Piers Rendell
If you have an LSD, don't under any circumstances allow them to put it on the rolling brake tester. It will damage the limited slip differential. Any MoT Tester that knows his stuff will know this and have his old fashioned brake tester to hand. StuB
You could also give RJ Motors near Norton Canes a try, they're very 7 friendly and have tested a number of local owners cars (including mine). Postal Code WS3 5AS Hope that helps Stu
