Z3MCJez
I have this immobiliser in my Caterham - Immobiliser Does anyone know off hand whether I can replace only a fob (I still have one, but I have had the second one stolen). There is no possibility of the original fob coming back into contact with the car, so I'm not worried about the security issue - I do think it's wise to have a spare fob though. Thanks in advance! Martin J
I have the same immobiliser as you Jez but only have one fob. I was supplied with two ignition keys one much larger & that has the chip built into it but won't work because it's to far from the aerial. It does function if you wave the key close to steering column. I know we have to have these things for insurance reasons but I would sooner mine hadn't as they can fail & then you are stranded. Z3MCJez
On the race car version, I got 2 plain keys and 2 fobs. If necessary, I will enquire about getting it removed, but it would be easier to have a replacement 99p part, if it can then be re-synched. I'm sure Roger will let me know here if taking it off is outside of the regs! Jez
classic1952
I got one from here: http://www.southerncarsecurity.co.uk/index.php?route=product/product&keyword=toad&category_id=0&product_id=

Roger Ford
Quoting Z3MCJez: I'm sure Roger will let me know here if taking it off is outside of the regs! "It is permitted to disable the engine immobiliser" Your legal team can argue in the MSA court whether removing it is the same as disabling it. In practice, I can hardly see it being an issue. Ah, hang on, that only applies to Supers, for some reason. I guess we'd need to defer to the Caterham regs for SigMax, and I'm not sure where to find them. abbot
That is a good question which reminds me I only have one key for my X Flow. It is the type that had a square slot in the day about the size of a USB key. Are replacements easy to find for them?
CharlesElliott
I don't see any provision for Sigmas to disable the immobiliser, sorry! One to ask Nick H to note for 2015.
Z3MCJez
Ho hum, For the sake of £20 I'll order a spare. Would feel pretty stupid if I couldn't get the car running having travelled half way across the country. Jez
