finmac
Car is a dry sumped 1.6K. Had a wonky electronic gauge now replaced with mechanical. It now reads about 6.5 bar (!) when being revved and 4.5 bar on hot idle - double (ish) what i would expect. Thoughts as to what's wrong please? Stationary M25 Traveller
I wondered that ... it would explain the 6.5, but maybe not the 4.5 ? Easy enough to check it though. Big hex front offside of engine ... low down.
CharlesElliott
Unlike 99% of people on Blatchat, I would go for a quality electrical sender every time.... Edited by - CharlesElliott on 14 Feb 2014 19:26:
Martin J
Wandering a little off topic but this is just what my sister has been experiencing with her 6 year old Ford Focus (identical engine to the caterham sigma) The other day, it blew a seal on the modine oil cooler & emptied the entire contents of the sump along her school route. The rain should have washed the oil away by now. She ignored the oil light & drove the last two miles home as it was pouring with rain. The engine has now had it & our tame home mechanic thinks the oil pressure relief valve stuck. Tomorrow she is off to buy a new Nissan Quashkai, the focus had done well over 100k miles & is probably going to be scrapped.
