Grubbster
As discussed in my other thread I have a long standing problem with my brakes on my Academy car. CC replaced the master cylinder recently and it was great to start with but after an hour on track I was back to a very spongy pedal again. I want to buy a new one but from elsewhere in case CC have a bad batch (their website says out of stock anyway), it has to be the same model though, this one, does anyone know what it was originally fitted to or where I can get one fairly quickly? Redline don't have any either. Edited by - grubbster on 20 Jul 2013 15:19:

Doug phillips
Having a dig around the net, it look like it may be a ford part. There is talk of using the Caterham part, on a cortina .
rj
Don't think an academy car would be from a Cortina. The thread is metric.

elie boone
Did you take the master cilinder apart ? there is maybe a sharp edge in the bore ? i can give you 2 cups for a 2000 spec master cil, i guess the are still used on metric chassis
Grubbster
I've not looked inside the MC on the car, but to have 2 dodgy ones in 6 months is a bit of a pain. Thanks for the offers chaps, sounds like I have some options. I'll see what Andy finds out at PGM tomorrow and get back to you. I do need to find out if the post 2007 MC is the same as the earlier one (if they are different then I need to source the later one).
myothercarsa2cv
They are different but the fittings are the same, at least they were for me!
OliW
Steve, I've just upgraded to a race cylinder and my original used MC is lying about doing nothing if you are interested. BM me if you are still in need. Cheers Oli
