Creaking Leda Suspension

Casbar

Recommended Posts

I've replaced the rear Spax's with Leda's. The ride is a lot better, but the two dampers/springs creak. I've tried spraying grease on the top and bottom securing points. They don't seemt to be rubbing, as they can be swung on the rose joints quite easily. Is it normal to hear some supsension creak? Any ideas?

Robert, just a thought, idea.gif did you pre load the bushes etc before you dropped the car onto its wheels. I'm sure that the same must apply to the rear as the front in that all final torquing up should be done with the car settled on its wheels. How did the brake light switch fitting go.

I have Leda's on my Elise and they can sometimes squeak a bit ( although it took about a year for that to start ). I usually squirt some WD40 on to shut them up. By the way is your car a live axle and how do the dampers perform. They work really well on the Elise especially with sticky tyres on track days and I was considering giving them a whizz on my live axle as the rear of my car is a bit amiss it seams to be really over damped at the moment!.

John,

I did pre load the suspension. The brake switch fitting went fine, I took the old one out, and slotted the new one in. It didn't lose any fluid. The switch works better, but you still have to push the peddal quite hard.

The Leda's work well on my live axle, the ride is a lot better. I went with 110 lbs springs on the rear. The Spax's I had, def over damped the car. I haven't changed the front as yet, cash flow and lack of understanding wife problem!!
