MaxB Posted March 25, 2012 Posted March 25, 2012 Hi all, anyone able to give me some suggestions.. I have a 1995 super 7 with K series 1.4. relatively new to 7's. Went for blat returned safely to garage yesterday...tried to start today, turned over but no fire! The various noises from ECU/fuel pump seem OK Have: checked ECU/fuel pump fuses, OK; checked that not flooded and cleaned sparkers;the inertia switch has not tripped ( I pressed it and seemed already depressed`) ; fuel in tank; battery healthy and turning engine over vigorously. Odd that turned engine off then next day, no fire. Sounds like something tripped. All suggestions very welcome! Max
Stationary M25 Traveller Posted March 25, 2012 Posted March 25, 2012 Check battery voltage while cranking - does it drop appreciably ? ECU doesn't like it if it does, but it doesn't sound like this is the problem. Try wiggling the connectors to the ECU. It does sound like a bad connection or fuse - but you have checked them !
MaxB Posted March 25, 2012 Author Posted March 25, 2012 Many thx will check. BTW I have spark. But not sure if fuel is getting thru...any idea how I check this?
Stationary M25 Traveller Posted March 25, 2012 Posted March 25, 2012 Carefully !!!!! - maybe take the return fuel hose off the front end of the fuel rail and put a cloth over the outlet on the rail. Get someone to turn the immobiliser off and ignition on. Don't go to start position. Turn it off again quickly !! See if cloth smells of fuel ! Just my thoughts !
Stationary M25 Traveller Posted March 25, 2012 Posted March 25, 2012 He did say the fuel pump was running ?
Bio Posted March 25, 2012 Posted March 25, 2012 If you suspect fuel remove the air filter and spray some Easystart into the induction and try again, if no go it must be something else. John
Fishy Dave Posted March 25, 2012 Posted March 25, 2012 Quoting Stationary M25 Traveller: He did say the fuel pump was running ? True, although I had the same symptoms when my fuel pump broke. It sounded like it was priming but the car wouldn't fire.
Fishy Dave Posted March 25, 2012 Posted March 25, 2012 here is the thread when it happend to me 5 years ago, hope it helps.
MaxB Posted April 2, 2012 Author Posted April 2, 2012 ... it was the fuel pump. ☹️ Thanks for your help chaps.
