elie boone Posted March 23, 2011 Posted March 23, 2011 Where is the best place to get a paddle clutch for a X-flow mated to a 2000E gearbox ? or is a "normal" clutch plate fine for 150bhp ? note this is for circuit use ! Edited by - elie boone on 23 Mar 2011 18:10:27
OliverSedlacek Posted March 23, 2011 Posted March 23, 2011 A heavy duty 'normal' clutch should be fine for 150 BHP. I got mine from Vulcan. It does depend on the driver, but a Seven is very easy on clutches.
Revin Kevin Posted March 23, 2011 Posted March 23, 2011 Elie, An uprated AP 71/2 inch (standard size) clutch is more than up to 150bhp. It is actually the same plate and cover they used on the K series R500! The big advantage of a paddle clutch is the lower rotating mass, the down side, cost and abrupt take up. Cheers Chris
elie boone Posted March 24, 2011 Author Posted March 24, 2011 A 2000E gearbox has smaler dia splines as the 5 speed, but the same as a type 2 gearbox. i might go for the paddle clutch just to be safe I just need a good place to source this with hopefully some discount
andy_h Posted March 24, 2011 Posted March 24, 2011 I got my paddle clutch and HD cover from SBD but it was for a type 9 gearbox on a VX. Web page here. My clutch is digital (on/off, no slip) and heavy under foot to use (cable) but for track use it's fine. Not cheap thou
Revin Kevin Posted March 24, 2011 Posted March 24, 2011 Elie, Sorry you confused me a bit there (not difficult), a 2000E has 7/8", 20 spline the same as the type 2, a type 9 (5 speed) and type E are 1", 23 spline. The uprated 7 1/2 cover is the same for both, the plates are obviously different.. If you go to the paddle you will need a new flywheel (or a heavily modified standard) cover and plate. Don't use the A ring type as they can be really noisy, use the lug drive type. People will tell you you need to use a hydraulic concentric clutch, you don't the standard cable or hydraulic lever type can be used but you will need an extra spacer on the CRB. If you go paddle don't expect any change from £750 all in or more. If you want the part numbers of the uprated standard clutch I can dig them out. I now of people who are using the uprated standard clutch with 230bhp duratecs. Cheers Chris Edited by - Revin Kevin on 24 Mar 2011 18:09:02
Area Representative marcos59 Posted March 25, 2011 Area Representative Posted March 25, 2011 Elie, I probably have an AP double discs cintered clutch left from my Marcos if it could be of interest for you...to snappy for it's wooden chassis and ONLY for race use. Is it for your G4?
elie boone Posted March 26, 2011 Author Posted March 26, 2011 Marcos, thanks for the offer but first i will try the uprated clutch.
