Bluestreak Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 Some of the adhesive pads that should hold the wiring loom in place in the tunnel above the prop shaft have come off. The loom has dropped slightly but isn't touching the prop shaft but could do if another couple of the adhesive pads become unstuck. Access is a bit of a pain and may mean dropping the prop shaft to be able to get at the wiring loom to secure it. I could simply buy some more adhesive pads and replace them but I wondered if anyone has come up with a better way of securing the wiring loom; any ideas welcome.
ECR Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 I use cable tie mounts. Pop rivet to the inside of the tunnel and passs the cable tie through. Vehicle Wiring Products supply (as do others)
simonpa Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 The cars before the IVA-nonsense 'upgrades' all had wiring cable-tied to the top rail of the tunnel. It was all secure and easy to get to if you took the tunnel-top off. I'd move it back up to the top and use cable ties, as they have done for the last 20(?) years! You can't expect sticky pads to last in a hot/oily tunnel Cheers - Simon
Bluestreak Posted March 13, 2011 Author Posted March 13, 2011 Thanks Gents - good advice; the cable tie mounts with pop rivets are a much better idea.
