Andrew G Posted March 11, 2011 Posted March 11, 2011 Halfords have 20% off mobil oils at the mo so thinking of this for next oil change, only choice which one to go for? Which one do people use on here?
Team Escargot Posted March 11, 2011 Posted March 11, 2011 Depends what engine you have. For a Rover K with hydraulic followers then 0 - 40 will be fine especially at this time of the year and for general road use (or consider 5 - 50 Mobil 1 rally motorsport) I would not advise 15 - 50 with hydraulic followers - its fine with mechanical (shimmed) followers. Alternatively - Coma 5 -50 is also OK Hope this helps Nick
Andrew G Posted March 11, 2011 Author Posted March 11, 2011 Going to admit to being a numpty and not knowing the answer on the followers! Its an R300 spec k-series EU3 on TBs
Sheds Moderator Posted March 11, 2011 Posted March 11, 2011 I think the R300 got the shimmed followers didn't it? I know the 1.4 supersport did, and by implication I'd imagine the hotter K series did too. I think 0-40 would be my choice for a K, regardless.
Stationary M25 Traveller Posted March 11, 2011 Posted March 11, 2011 Even at 20% off, I imagine Halfords prices are still going to be high ?
Graham King Posted March 11, 2011 Posted March 11, 2011 Andrew, as Ian says Halfords are still not that cheap even with 20% off, you could try Camskill Camskill, or they do Comma 5-40 at very good prices, which was until recently the Catreham recommended oil for all K-Series. Graham.
