Simon.H Posted March 9, 2011 Posted March 9, 2011 My job for this weekend. Looks simple enough to do but has anyone got any tips for doing this without getting brake fluid everywhere? I'm thinking either be very quick with swapping them over, or bleed the fluid out of the MC first? Ta
Sheds Moderator Posted March 9, 2011 Posted March 9, 2011 I'd put rags down and suck as much out of the reservoir as I could with a pipette. Not much will drain out of the pipework, it's closed. As long as you can keep it vertical when removing it there should be little spillage.
Gary Stone Posted March 9, 2011 Posted March 9, 2011 Yes, be quick...It's not a messy as you might think, but do lay plenty on old cloths down first. I also primed the new AP unit with brake fluid first, pumping the piston till it came from the connection holes. Did the swap as quick as poss & didn't even have to bleed the brakes after.
Simon.H Posted March 10, 2011 Author Posted March 10, 2011 Thanks both, just done this and didn't make much mess at all thanks to your advice. Bit disappointed with the result though after a brief road test. Pedal doesn't seem that much different from the standard MC. Still needs a similar amount of effort, still has a lag at the top of the pedal, and still feels good at the limit. I think there is still a tiny bit of air somewhere though.
